Amazing People

First, I wanted to share a video with you all that I hope will put a smile on your face.  Unfortunately, I have no idea how to rotate the video!

I think my daughter is pretty awesome.  🙂

So in this business I meet a lot of amazing people.  I have met great entrepreneurs who are inspiring such as Kate Dunbar of Petite Reve Chocolates.  She started with a business idea and is preparing to open a storefront (Petite Reve Cafe) in Ventura!  Amazing!  I congratulate her on her accomplishments and I appreciate her support of my business as well.

Not only are my vendors fantastic but my clients are great people too.  A few weeks ago I was asked to coordinate a fundraising event for a sweet little girl named Nina Fredeen.

I had no idea how much this little girl would touch my heart and I have yet to meet her.  When I see pictures of her on her mother’s blog (, I see my daughter and I hear my daughter’s laughter in Nina’s.  It breaks my heart that we will not be lucky enough to see this young girl grow up to be a fantastic woman.  Confused?  Well, Nina has an inoperable tumor on her brain stem (DPIG).  It’s rare and it is found in children between the ages of 6 and 9.  The fundraising event we’re planning is tentatively a 2 day event on 11 and 12 March 2011.  We’re going to plan a benefit dinner and a golf tournament.  Both events require that the participants pay a fee but the money will be donated to the family to help pay for funeral expenses and any money remaining will be used to help the family pay for daily expenses.  I can’t even begin to imagine what this family is going through right now.  We are currently looking for donations for our silent auction.  If you’re interested, please email me at  No donation is too small.  If you’re interested in making a financial contribution, you can also email me and I’ll send you the information.  Our goal is to raise $15,000.

During the planning process of this fundraising event, the women I have been working with – Crystal, Sharon and Larisa – have been amazing.  I can see how much this family means to them and it makes me want to work even harder for them.  I want to help them celebrate Nina’s life through this event and allow family and new/old friends the opportunity to support the family.  I have also met some amazing businesses who have opened up their hearts to help us: Austin and Dara of Austin & Dara Photography, Predrag from Elings Park in Santa Barbara, Peter Duffy of Photon Concepts, Ruben Reye of Pueblo Del Ray Funeral Services, Kathy Ackley from Fess Parker Double Tree Resort, Rich Nahas from Glen Annie Golf Club, Glenn Novack from Event Rents, Elizabeth Jamond from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Ellen Gilbert from the Santa Barbara Polo Clubhouse, Meredith Moore from the Museum of Natural History, and Daniele Rose from Lavender & Twine

Thank you to everyone for being so wonderful and truly amazing.  I am lucky to work with such amazing people and getting to know each of them.
